Me: So change in plans for dinner tonight. Instead of chicken burritos, we're having yummy chicken and leeks.
E: Leeks?
M: Yep, leeks in a yummy yellow sauce (it was a dijon mustard sauce, but Emma has decided she doesn't like mustard, so I didn't want to use the 'M' word).
E: Hmm....well yellow isn't my favorite color.
Later, at dinner
Hubs: Here Emma, here are some leeks.
E: I don't want any of those slicks.
Me: Slicks? They're called leeks.
E: I don't want any of those slicks.
M: Are you calling the leeks slicks? You need to eat 3 bites of the leeks.
E: (takes one bite, makes a face before it's in her mouth) I.don't.like.these.slicks...blech.
M: Well you've got two more bites to go.
E: Blech, I don't care for slicks.
M: They're called LEEKS.
E: Blech.
Finally, after she's tucked into bed and has called me back in
E: Those slicks were in RED sauce, not yellow sauce.
Me: They're called leeks, not slicks.
E: They were in RED sauce.
M: You're right, the sauce was more red than yellow.
E: Red is one of my favorite colors.
M: Good night Emma
